The Kia Soul

The new Kia Soul, which will be on sale in the UK early 2009, will be based on an all-new platform that will find its way into other Kia products in the near future.

The mini-SUV will only be sold with front-wheel drive systems and no four-wheel drive systems are in the current model plan. Engines at launch will be limited to the Ce’ed’s 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with a six-speed manual transmission. An automatic version of this should also follow.

Although Kia has not yet shown pictures of the interior, the Soul concept cars at this years Geneva show did have near-production ready cabins. This model is very similar to the Nissan Qashqai, but Kia says that it is smaller and will offer better value for money.
