Ford Ka ST steps into the spotlight
Minor Changes & Pricing | Dean | September 3, 2008 at 14:23Ford new pocket rocket, the all-new Ka ST. This model is taking over from the Sportka and it is expected to wow drivers with a class-leading combination of driver appeal and stand-out styling.
The all-new Ka ST will go head to head with the Abarth 500 and the Renaultsport Twingo 133. The ST model offers a visual punch with flared wheelarches and sporty front and rear bumpers. There is also a honeycomb grille, racing stripes, multi-spoke alloy wheels, side skirts and a venturi-style rear end. The model is completed with twin-exhausts.
The inside of the Ka ST features top-quality materials such as figure-hugging seats with blue inserts and a range of ST decals on the steering wheel and instruments which offer the sporty feel.
The new Ford Ka ST shares its chassis and many suspension components with the Abarth 500. The ST however will be featuring stiffened springs and dampers, a quicker steering rack and uprated brakes.
The Ka ST will offer plenty of feedback, strong grip and agile handling. Sadly there are no engine details released yet, for both the regular Ka and ST version. Because both models share numerous components there is a chance that the ST could use the same 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-charged engine as the Abarth 500.
This means that the model could have a minimum output of around 135bhp, and feature a low kerbweight. The 0-60mph (0-100km/h) could be around eight seconds and the top speed could go up to about 125mph.
The fuel-economy is expected to be around 50mpg (UK) and the CO2 emissions around 150g/km.
The surprising part about all of this is that the Ka ST is yet to be given the green light. Ford bosses are expecting most of the Ka sales to come from the low-emission ECOnetic versions.

Probably one of the hardest things anyone can do is try and learn something new. Congrats to anyone who tries.
