Mercedes-Benz are planning to phase out their V12 engines. Autobild are reporting that the M295 engine, yeah, that’s the V12 one, will be replaced by a new twin-turbo V8 engine. The V12 bad-boy will be replaced by a new twin-turbo V8 engine. The M295 was originally a replacement for the most powerful and acclaimed Merc engines, the M275.
Turbocharged engines seem to be the way, as the regulations for emissions and fuel-consumption are getting a lot more strict. There will be different power levels on the new V8 twin-turbo Merc engine.
There will also be a few engines from the A and B-Class models that will move into the C-Class range, similar to BMW’s plans to bring four-cylinder engines to their 3-Series.
