Jaguar have introduced a new 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine into the European version of the 2010 Jaguar XF. The power outputs in the S form range from 240 to 275-hp.
The dual turbocharged 3.0-litre AJ-V6D Gen III diesel engines are based on the 207-hp 2.7-litre AJ V6 from the PSA Peugeot-Citroen group.
Both of the units will be connected to Jaguar’s six-speed ZF 6HP28 automatic ‘box.
The standard version of the 3.0-litre V6 diesel will have 240-hp and it will allow the XF to get from 0-96km/h in only 6.7 seconds. It will then reach a maximum speed of 240km/h.
The more expensive XF Diesel S will have 275-hp and 600Nm of torque. The acceleration will allow the car to get from 0-96km/h in only 5.9 seconds. The top speed will be electronically limited to 250km/h.
The XF Diesel S will have a combined average fuel consumption of 42mpg UK.
The outside of the Diesel S XF will feature a new set of 19-inch wheels, a new aerodynamic boot lid spoiler and discreet ‘S’ badging.
Jaguar have also said that they have performed a range of ’significant trim and specification changes’ which will include a new luxurious Portfolio version.
The UK XF 3.0-litre diesel model will start at £33,900 while the new 3.0-litre Diesel S starts at £36,900. The XF models will be ready in Europe from March 2009.
