The new Volkswagen Golf BiFuel 1.6-litre is powered by a dual-powered engine which will run on both petrol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The care will be VW’s first ever factory-installed LPG system. VW says that thanks to thorough testing the model will be more durable and reliability is virtually guaranteed.

VW’s LPG mode car will emit up to 10% fewer CO2 gasses. In this mode the 72kW engine will average 9.2-litres of LPG per 100km, with a 149g/km of CO2 emissions. If you switch to petrol mode the Golf BiFuel will return 7.1litres per 100km, with CO2 emissions being 169g/km.

The Golf BiFuel theoretically has a range of 1,100 kilometers, and in pure LPG mode the range will be 420km.
