A tragic accident occurred this morning, where a 51-year-old man died in an accident involving a Porsche 911 cabriolet prototype. The deceased was a Porsche engineer and he was driving the car on the A5 Autobahn when he lost control and slammed into the guard rail on the side of the road.
The accident occurred at 2:45am, and the images show the car wedged under the barrier, with the rail making contact near where the drivers head and torso should have been.
A Porsche spokesman said, that he “was one of the most experienced test drivers.” A Porsche representative confirmed that the car was camouflaged cabriolet.
There is no news on what caused the accident, but witnesses said that the driver was driving a prototype at a high speed. The stretch of road that he was on did not have a speed limit, and the test driver in the cabriolet was being followed by another Porsche test driver in a camouflaged four-door Porsche Panamera prototype.
The driver in the Panamera evaded the crash successfully and he escaped unharmed. The drivers were said to be working a 10pm to 6am shift. The estimated damage is said to about several thousand Euro.
