Rumour: Audi R8 Spyder And Electric R8 Concept For Frankfurt

New rumours have said that the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show will house the Audi R8 Spyder, which is essentially a topless R8 Coupe.

Although you might think that this is all that Audi has in show, we’d like to tell you that Audi will also unveil a R8 coupe called the ‘e-Version’ with electric power. The e-Version R8 comes to us with no details, so this means that we can only speculate about either an all-electric powertrain or a petrol/diesel hybrid unit.

We’ll probably take our bets on the hybrid model, but hey, we could be wrong.

As for the Spyder R8, well, this comes as the diesel model was said to be cancelled. It was said that the R8 Spyder will feature a fabric roof with a targa panel. It will feature a 4.2-litre 420-hp and the V10 525-hp 5.2-litre engine.
