BMW has officially revealed the X1 SUV. The unveil features over 180 images, along with news on the car. The new entry-level SUV from BMW will fit under the X3 SUV and it will rival the Toyota RAV-4, Honda CR-V and the Volkswagen Tiguan.

The BMW X1 SUV is pretty much identical to the X1 concept that was unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The X1 has a flatter surface than the X3, and it looks to be a bit more streamlined.

The interior will be similar to all of the other models, so nothing really new here. There is however the return of the driver orientated center stack which will soon return to all of the future BMW’s.

BMW’s X1 is built on the 3-series platform and it measures in at 4,454mm in length, 1,798mm in width and 1,545mm in height. The X1 will have a storage space of 420 litres when the seats are up, or 1,350 litres when they are folded down.

Expect four engines for the car, where the first model will have a sDrive layout, which means that it will feature rear-wheel-drive. The other models will have an xDrive setup which obviously means four-wheel-drive.

The engines for the X1 are the 3.0-litre straight six petrol unit with 285-horsepower and a 0-100km/h time of 6.8 seconds, the 2.0-litre diesel unit with 204-hp, 177-hp and 143-hp. These diesel units will achieve 5.2-litres per 100km, and they will be the models with the optional rear-wheel-drive layout.

Expect a new 2.0-litre petrol unit to come out with the rear-wheel-drive set up to be released in the future as well.

Wow! Loads of images & awesome news.

i think that the x1 will do quite well in the market, it’s small and it will be nippy around the roads
