A recent report has said that BMW has approved the production of the 3-Series Gran Turismo. The model will go into production during 2011 and it will have the same odd styling found on the 5-Series GT.
BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer said, “We haven’t cancelled the crossover of the 3 Series, as it is considered a volume builder with which we can earn good money.”
The 3-Series GT will have a price set between the normal 3-Series and 5-Series models, where it will rival all kinds of luxury wagons and small SUV’s. The 3-Series GT might even take a few sales away from the X1 and the traditional model.
Power will be similar to the line up in 2011, and there will be no Motorsport version of this model. There might however be a hybrid version, and also an all-wheel-drive unit.
A concept could appear at the Frankfurt show in September.
