GM’s new CEO, Fritz Henderson announced a load of new changes for the company. It was said that GM will release 25 new models for the ‘core’ brands which consist of Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.
The news from Fritz says that we can expect a new XTS and ATS model from Cadillac, where the XTS is said to be large, while the ATS will be small. The CTS will be the middle-series model and this variant will target the likes of the BMW 3-Series models.
The most important news from Fritz states that the “230″ marketing campaign from the company will be related to the Volt. The EPA of the Volt is expected to be set around 230 miles per gallon. This is value will come from the use of an electric and a normal combustion engine. The Volt is said to use a 25kW/hour per 100 miles and this means that the Volt will be the first car ever to receive triple fuel digits.
It was said that this number was based on the electric-only driving set up, which will keep the motor charged with various technologies such as regenerative braking.
With these crazy statistics being thrown around, it kind of explains why GM are running behind schedule with technology for the Volt.
