Subaru’s 2010 Legacy 2.0-litre Diesel Sport Wagon has taken part in the Euro NCAP tests where it obtained a full five-star rating. What makes this news so special is that Subaru vehicles have already scored high in crash tests, but this is the first model to ever score a top rating in the NCAP test.

The tests include adult, child and pedestrian protection.

This is how the Subaru Legacy scored:

* Adult Occupant Protection: 79 percent
* Child Occupant Protection: 73 percent
* Pedestrian Protection: 58 percent
* Safety Assist: 71 percent
* Overall weighted score: 73 points

Safety features on the Legacy include a cradle engine mounting system, a new ring shaped reinforcement frame body, Vehicle Dynamics Control, a 4-wheel disc Anti-lock Brake system, Electric Brake-force Distribution and also all round air bags.

“Subaru is committed to offer confidence as well as sheer driving excitement to its customers, leveraged by the combination of its original Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system and Boxer Engine. Subaru believes the achievement of the 5-Sar rating will help increasing the confidence of its customers. Subaru will continue providing peace of mind by further polishing its distinctive technologies,” the manufacturer stated.
