The Dodge Viper’s future is really uncertain at the moment. Many reports have said that the car might die, while others have said that there will be a new model coming pretty soon. Well, the latest news states that Fiat’s Sergio Marchionne will add his own touch the model. It was said that the Viper will become the flagship model for Dodge.
It was said that Sergio might add a Ferrari engine into the Viper. The V10 Ferrari powertrain will boost the performance, and hopefully the sales of the Dodge as well.
It was originally suspected that the Viper would die if Fiat bought the brand, as it does rival the Ferrari model. Quite a funny change as Fiat are now kitting the Viper out with Ferrari parts.
“The Dodge Viper has successfully captured the hearts and imagination of performance enthusiasts around the globe. We’re extremely proud that the ultimate American-built sports car with its world-class performance will live on as the iconic image leader for the Dodge brand,” Mike Accavitti, Dodge CEO, said in the release.
Details are currently zig-zag but we’re expecting the 2009 model to feature a 8.4-litre V10 with 450kW of power.
