Volkswagen’s CEO, Martin Winterkorn has jumped the gun as he is already announcing the new plans for the Porsche brand. The new VW and Porsche deal will allow the two automakers to merge into a single automaker.
It was said that VW would like to raise Porsche’s volume, a lot. The German supercar company currently sells around 100,000 per year, but Mr Winterkorn would like to see around 150,000 units sold per year by 2013.
The sales increase has been said to come from three new models in the lower-end of the Porsche line-up. There are no detailed sketches on what kind of models will be produced, but VW has decided on models which might be viable for the market.
It has been said that an entry level Boxster would be a good diea, along with a smaller Cayenne. The VW brand has said that they will not water down the Porsche brand with too many VW products.
The last variant that might hit the market could be based on the new Panamera. The new four-door-coupe will be less expensive where it will rival BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
