New details on the Mercedes-Benz Vision S500 plug-in hybrid has been sent to WorldCarFans.
The new model is expected to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show where it will feature a V6 petrol engine connected to a lithium-ion battery pack with a storage capacity of over 10kWh. The setup will allow the hybrid S-Class to ravel 30km on electric power before it runs dry. There will then be a 44kW hybrid module which will activate the petrol engine.
Details are still very dry, but it seems like the 0-100km/h time will be set around 5.5 seconds where the fuel consumption will be something like 3.2-litres per 100km/h with the CO2 emissions set at 74g/km.
According to Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, “The Vision S 500 HYBRID is a new milestone on our path toward zero-emission mobility. It is a luxurious and safe S-Class vehicle that offers superior driving performance while at the same time consuming less fuel than current compacts. All of this shows that our top models will also be able to combine automotive fascination with responsibility for the environment.”
More information will come at the Frankfurt Show.
