Saab’s new 9-5 is currently on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show before it goes on sale at the beginning of 2010. The new 9-5 from Saab will rival the BMW 5-Series and A6 from Audi. Styling will come from the Aero X concept car, as well as the classic 900 model.
The new Saab 9-5 will be available with a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines, a 2.0-litre unit with 220-horsepower and of course a 300-horsepower 2.8-litre V6 engine. There will be Saab’s XWD four-wheel-drive system as well. Of course Saab just had to offer a diesel engine, and this will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel unit with 160-horsepower.
The market launch see those engines, where shortly after this the company will add a new 1.6-litre petrol turbocharged engine with a 180-horsepower power limit. The company will also branch out towards a 2.0-litre BioPower E85-capable engine.
Technology includes a new Saab DriveSense, Bi-Xenon Smart Beam headlights and intelligent cruise control.
