Gordon Murray, the South African designer which has been in the news quite a bit lately has released the news that he will create a new successor to the original McLaren F1 model. During an interview with CarMagazine, Murray revealed that he will do one more supercar.
“I will do one more supercar – but it’ll be a new breed. The way supercars are done right now, they’ve got no future at all.” said Murray.
The South African said that the car would not have as much power, nor would it have a comparable top speed to the original model. However, the successor will be lighter and smaller. The idea behind the new car will push forward engineering handy work instead of raw power.
The new model will be based on the P8 design which Murray was working on before he left McLaren to form his own design studio called Gordon Murray Design.
Details are still very scarce, but Murray did say that he does not want to out do the F1, and he will hope to create something which will be based on the MP4-12C, and then also work with that model to create a good McLaren line up.
