More capable batteries for electric vehicles are definitely a must as the future is changing towards a greener outcome. There is however a new company creating batteries for the future and this company is called Axeon.
Axeon is supported by Ricardo in the UK, and they are aiming to create “high energy density battery system for an emission-free electric small city car.”
“As a leading provider of innovative EV battery technology Axeon is delighted to be leading this consortium. This project will enable us to develop a new electric car battery with improved performance that will be highly adaptable and transferable to many vehicle manufacturers and platforms,” Lawrence Berns, Axeon CEO said in a release.
The battery will be developed over the next 22 months where it Ricardo will take care of the battery management system architecture and application software. Axeon on the other hand will handle the engineering and construction of the battery.
“The work we are funding will focus on developing ultra-efficient electric and hybrid vehicle motive and ancillary systems that will make the best use of this energy. Increasing the market acceptance of low carbon vehicles will contribute to achieving UK and EU climate change targets, while creating significant market opportunities for UK-based companies,” John Laughlin, UK Technology Strategy Board’s Low Carbon Vehicles program manager added.
There was sadly no other information on the battery packs.
