Volkswagen has said that they will unveil the Golf R hatchback at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, where the company will use the Scirocco’s powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270-horsepower.
Well the engine being used wasn’t a big secret, the speculation came in where no one was really sure about the transmission and wheel-drive setup. However the latest insider reports from Carscoop state that the R version of the Golf will use a four-wheel-drive system similar to that found in the Audi S3. The Scirocco R will continue to use a front-wheel-drive setup.
The Golf R will come in a three and five door body style where it will get from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds and boast the dual clutch VW DSG engine. More details coming soon.
