New reports around the Audi A1 have been released, where it was said that there won’t only be a hatchback model, but also a cabriolet and estate variant with quattro AWD.
“We will start with the three-door version with several different engine variants,” Schwarzenbauer told CAR. “Will we do further models? Look at what we do with the A3 range – we could something similar with the A1.”
What this essentially means is that the engines will range from a baby 1.2-litre engine all the way up to a 1.8-litre turbocharged motor in both petrol and diesel form. There is a definite possibility that the future might see an electric variant as the Audi A1 is pretty much a direct rival to the MINI.
Styling-wise, Audi has already dropped a few hints at what it will look like. The Metroproject Concept, pictured here, features the basic look. The A1 will be aimed at building a larger market share, where the company will then hopefully take throne as the largest premium automaker in 2015.
