The main-men at Alfa Romeo have apparently shut down all rumours of a V8 engine for the next generation set of sedans. The poor economic factors are apparently the main reason behind the death of the V8 engines.

“No front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive Alfa Romeo will use a engine larger than a V6,” a senior Alfa source told AutoCar.

It was said that Fiat, who now has access to Chrysler parts, will use the Pentastar V6 engine for the Alfa Romeo models of the future. This engine will apparently help with power and fuel-economy figures.

At the moment the Alfa Romeo 8C features a 4.7-litres V8 engine, and this could be the last model to have this layout.
