Lexus Releases Their New US Spec 2010 LS460 Facelift Model

Lexus has unveiled their US market version of the LS460 sedan that has been refreshed for the 2010 year. The new 2010 model features new styling, equipment and optional performance packages. The LS460 is available with a rear or all-wheel-drive layout, where the Japanese automaker will also offer an extended wheelbase version.

Changes in the front start with a new grille, revised headlamps and a new styled front bumper and a new license plate surround. The rear will have new bumpers, new tail lights and a new exhaust diffuser. The other changes include new turn signals integrated into the side mirrors, while the wheels have been changed to 18-inch 10-spoke alloys.

Technology-wise there will be a new Safety Connect and Lexus Enform telematics system as well as a new Advanced Pre-Collision System (APCS) which recently made its debut in the LS 600h L special edition for Pebble Beach.

The APCS system will work with two smal cameras that are mounted to the front of the car, these camera will work in conjunction with a millimeter-wave radar that detects vehicles and pedestrians in the way.

Alongside the above mentioned changes, Lexus will offer a new Sport Package for the rear-wheel-drive model. This package will include an exterior aerodynamics kit, as well as an air suspension tuning program.

Changes for the Sport Package include a new front grille, side rocker panels, spoilers for the front and rear bumpers and a new set of 19-inc wheels. When you opt for this upgrade, don’t be surprised to find that the interior has changed with a new leather kit that includes front sport seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and an eight speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

Performance wise the new Sport kit will include new Brembo brakes and an air suspension tuned for stability and better handling.

Lexus decided to keep the 4.6-litre V8 engine connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This motor pushes out 283kW with 498Nm of torque in the rear wheel configuration, while the AWD variant will pump out 266kW with 466Nm of torque.

Acceleration comes in 0-96km/h in 5.4 seconds for the RWD model, while the AWD variant will do this in 5.9 seconds.
