Reports Say That Subaru Are Planning A 086A STI Coupe

The Tokyo Motor Show will give us the first look of new the rear-wheel-drive sports coupe from Toyota, in real life form. The FT-86 concept will be unveiled as one half of the Toyota/Subaru project.

At this point in time we’ve only seen the Toyota-based sports coupe, and we’re pretty excited to see what Subaru has come up with. Speculation revolves around Subaru only revealing their version next year sometime, where it will be powered by a 2.0-litre Subaru engine. There is even the report that there might be a STI version of this sports coupe. The STI project is known internally as 086A STI.

The STI 086A will use a 2.5-litre engine with about 250-horsepower. No other news has slapped us in the face yet, so we’ll just wait around.
