Volkswagen has celebrated the release of the most fuel efficient Golf of all time, the new BlueMotion. The second generation BlueMotion is currently only available in Germany with a price tag of €21,650.
The Golf BlueMotion will have a 1.6-litre TDI common-rail diesel engine with 105-horsepower (78kW) and a long-ratio five-speed manual gearbox.
The TDI engine will not be the only change, as VW has added a few aerodynamic changes as well as a new braking energy recovery function. Alongside those features there will be a new start-stop system as well as light alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tires.
All of these changes allow for a fuel consumption of only 3.8-litres per 100km, with CO2 emissions set at only 99g/km.
