Volkswagen has said that both the Scirocco and Eos models will soon benefit from the 210-horsepower (157 kW) 2.0-litre TSI engine from the Golf GTI. The new engine will replace the 200-horsepower 2.0-litre TSI unit already found in the Scirocco GT.

The new engine will provide an extra 10-horsepower over the other unit, where the torque will stay the same at 280Nm. The four-cylinder engine will be connected to a six-speed manual transmission and then offer the choice for the DSG dual clutch transmission.

VW’s new Scirocco engine will get from 0-100km/h about 0.3 seconds faster than the outgoing engine (6.9 seconds). The Eos will reach this speed in a slower 7.8 seconds.

Not only is the engine more powerful, it is also more fuel efficient then the previous unit. Expect a combined fuel economy of 7.4-litres per 100km/h. This will be a 5 percent improvement for the Scirocco. The Eos will get 7.2-litres per 100km, and this is a 9 percent fuel cut.

Pricing starts at €26,050 for the Scirocco, and €31,975 for the Eos.
