Aston Martin’s Rapide Will Be The Firm’s First Car To Be Built Outside Of The UK

Aston Martin will, for the first time in its 95-year history, build their Rapide outside of UK soil. The British company has decided to use Magna Steyr — a company which produces models for BMW and Mercedes-Benz — as their production home.
Aston will prepare 240 workers to develop the car at the Austrian plant, where they will build about 2,000 sedans per year.
“Aston have spent the past 16 months replicating their British production operation at their own dedicated factory in Graz, with a small team of Aston specialists training Magna staff, some of whom have traveled to Gaydon for first-hand experience,” reports The Sun.
The company said that they already planned to build this car three years ago, where their other plants were already pumping out cars in full capacity. There was no prediction for a recession, and Magna seemed like the best idea back then.
