BMW’s new M5 will, for the first time, come with a turbocharged engine. The news comes from Autocar, and WorldCarFans, as they were recently in touch with BMW’s M division division chief, Albert Bierman.
Many questions regarding the power are being raised, as fans are hoping that the power will succeed the original 373kW mark. Moreover it’s been said that the torque has been boosted by 30 percent more than that of the V10.
“We’ve been forced to switch to an engine offering greater low-end torque than the naturally aspirated engine to ensure it can cope with the longer axle ratio,” Biermann said.
The fuel consumption, as well as overall weight is expected to be reduced. There will be a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox available as well as new aerodynamics and new lights.
Internally this model is called the F10M and it will be on show at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
