Rumour has had it that Ferrari is was currently working on a big-boy version of the 599 GTB Fiorano. The news has been on the down-low, however, new information has surfaced. The new information states that the rumours are in fact, true.
The name of the new hardcore Ferrari is not yet known, but some people are calling it the 599 GTO. The GTO name would pay homage to the legendary 250 GTO which was developed in the 1960s.
It was said that the pre-order papers apparently used the GTO name, and that is why many have thought that it is the best solution to a nameless problem.
Specifications on the new special edition 599 will include a V12 engine with 500kW, and also 515kW. There will be a decreased body mass of about 60kilograms and this is due to the use of new carbon fibre components throughout the body. It is expected that the look will be similar to that of the Ferrari 599 XX Concept from the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.
The reveal for the new supercar is expected to be the Geneva Motor Show, where deliveries will take place during October 2010. Expect only 500 units to be built, while the price tag will contain a few too many zero’s for us to even consider buying.
