Opel workers have complained that GM’s decision revolving around the German brand are not worthy. Opel workers feel that the brand will not be able to survive under the US ownership. GM has also been accused of “threats, blackmail and intimidation”, as Opel labor leader Klaus Franz said in a report.
Officials have said that GM might face many problems with the workers, and their union as they need to cut a massive amount of jobs.
“We want Opel to continue to exist,” German politician Roland Koch said. “We will have to fight again with the goal of saving jobs.”
GM’s CEO, Fritz Henderson said that he is willing to do almost anything to keep the brand alive under the GM name. He said that the proposal will be completed shortly, and it will then be submitted.
“We have some fence mending and repairs that need to be done. That’s my responsibility and the responsibility of the leadership team and I’m enthusiastic about getting started and doing that,” he was quoted.
