Hyundai Have Revealed Their First Direct-Injection Engine — The New 2.4-Litre Theta II
Miscellaneous | Dean | November 19, 2009 at 18:32Hyundai will unveil their first ever direct-injection petrol engine, the new 2.4-litre Theta II GDI. This engine will not only have more power, but also better fuel consumption and emission figures. There will be 201-horsepower and 184lb-ft of torque available in the new 2.4-litre engine.
The engine cost about 170 billion won, or $170.5 million, to create. The Theta II GDI will produce 7 percent more torque at low revs, and 12 percent more torque at high revs when compared to a normal engine of the same size.
There is a 10 percent improvement on fuel economy figures.
The Theta II GDI will make its debut on the 2011 Sonata sedan and this mode is expected during the first half of 2010.
