Lexus Says That You Can’t Buy The LFA — But Please, Do Lease It
Miscellaneous, Reports | Dean | November 24, 2009 at 17:33Brian Smith, top-dog at Lexus has said that while the 2011 LFA is expensive you won’t actually be able to purchase it. The car will undergo a two-year leasing plan only, and this means that you may drive it, but the company still owns it.
“If someone buys it the first month and then decides to sell it, that could be damaging for the ownership experience,” Smith told Automotive News. “If it is not controlled and hits the speculation market, all bets are off.”
Lexus has only planned to build 500 units of the LFA over the two-year period, and this will start during the December month of 2010. No vehicle can be built until it is ordered.
“We want people out driving the car and not just parking it in a museum or selling it at an inflated price,” he said.
Sounds more like Lexus want to make money out of it without letting consumers damage the name.
