There have previously been rumours stating that Rolls Royce will build an electric Phantom. Well, before this happens, the company will first create a new hybrid version of the new Ghost. The Rolls-Royce Ghost hybrid will share technology with the new BMW ActiveHybrid 7.

These models already use the same rear-wheel-drive platform, where its said that the 563-horsepower 6.2-litre V12 engine will be connected to a new electric-motor. There will be no electric-driving possible, and this means that the hybrid will need to use an automatic start-stop system to save fuel.

Connected to the engine will be a 20kW/155lb-ft electric motor.

Fuel consumption on the hybrid powered Ghost should be around 15 percent better than that of the standard model.
