South Africa Has Released The Brand New Kia Sorento

South Africa has introduced the new Kia Sorento. The Sorento was first introduced in 2002, where now, seven years later the SUV has undergone innovative styling for a more durability and off-road abilities.

The Sorento will be offered in five and seven seater layouts, where the front will have a signature grille, along with new wrap around headlamps. Expect 18-inch wheels for the seven-seater model. An optional extra will include a two-part Panoramic roof with a tilt and slide back function.

There will be 10 colours available and include two solid colours, three pearl colours and five metallic colours.

Inside will boast a new sweeping dashboad design, along with a new three-spoke steering wheel, a three-cylinder instrument cluster and also an ECO Driving Guidance System. This system will monitor throttle pedal response and offer feedback for more fuel economical driving.

Equipment includes a new radio/CD audio system with MP3/USB/iPod connectivity and six speakers. Optional extra’s will also be available.

The seven-seater models includes engine Start/Stop as well as smart key and a rear view camera.

Engines include a 3.5-litre petrol unit, as well as a 2.2-litre diesel unit. Both of these powertrains will be enhanced for better power and better fuel-consumption. The diesel unit will come with a manual or automatic ‘box, as well as the option for 2WD or 4WD drive layouts. Power on the diesel engine sits at 147kW with 436Nm of torque.

The revised Lambda II petrol engine will boast Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) with 206kW and 335Nm of torque. This engine will only be coupled to an automatic gearbox.

Kia’s diesel engine with a four wheel drive layout will use an average of 6.6 litres of fuel per 100km, while the CO2 emissions will be set at 174g/km.

Safety equipment includes ABS, EBD, ESC, Hill Start Assist and Rear Parking Assist.
